New Chairman’s Club Members (Korea): Dong Keun Chung & Young Hyang Park

I’m back from 2009 Asia Pacific Extravaganza!!!! I had great fun and brought home with me a lot of thoughts and learning.

One of the speakers who left a deep impression in me was Dong Keun Chung. I saw him fighting his tears while he was speaking. He is strong….. but I can’t hold my tears.

He was born in a poor family. He told himself that when he grew up and has his own family, he will not let his family live in poverty like him. Since then he had a dream to live a wealthier life. In seeking his dream, he failed 16 times in his businesses. He joined various direct marketing companies but failed even he had worked very hard. He never gave up because he believes as long as he continues to work hard, he will find a good one. At one point of time, he wanted to end his life because he felt life was meaningless. He worked so hard yet all he got in return were failures. He gave up the thought of dying because of his family.

He came to know Herbalife through Chairman’s Club members Hyun Mo Koo and Tae Ho Kim. He accepted their invitation to learn more about Herbalife after rejecting them 4 times and he is grateful that they never gave up on him.

He made it to Chairman Club due to following reasons:

• Always think HBL business is easy
• Have a desperate desire to have better life
• Never stopped to believe in HBL and his sponsor
• Do not make excuses, always say yes
• See failure as the foundation to success
• Understand the value of HBL. The returns are huge, its not just the money

Dong Keun Chung & Young Hyang Park – the new Chairman Club Members in Korea – May 2009

Ever since he can remember, Dong Keun Chung was on a mission to succeed.

Familiar with direct-selling opportunities, he tried several such businesses; however, despite his positive approach, all of his attempts failed and he ultimately fell into despair. That’s when Herbalife suddenly entered Chung’s life. Upon meeting Chairman’s Club members Hyun Mo Koo and Tae Ho Kim, he felt at once that Herbalife was quite different from what he had experienced in the past, and decided to give it a chance.

Chung started working his Herbalife business full time on April 1, 1998, when he qualified for Supervisor. But he still had debts to pay, which forced him to exert his energy to the fullest. “I think being faithful to the basics was the best strategy,” he says. “Moreover, I never missed any meetings or trainings. And that led to good results.” A mere one year after he made Supervisor and dedicated himself full time to the Herbalife business opportunity, Chung made President’s Team and was able to clear his debts.

But that was just the beginning! In 2004, with business continuing to skyrocket, his wife Young Hyang Park joined him in the effort. Then, after visiting a Nutrition Club in Mexico in February 2007, Chung was convinced that adopting such a Business Method in Korea could lead to even more success in his native land. He hesitated at first, noting things work differently in Korea; but after contemplating for six months, he opened a Nutrition Club in Busan and expanded from there. Finally, on August 1, 2007, Chung made a strong commitment to himself to cease all leisure activities, including golf, and focus 110% on the Herbalife business opportunity until he reached Chairman’s Club.
